To change your jewellery or not to change your jewellery?
Well that IS the question.
Jewellery wearers definitely seem to fall into two categories.
Category One, those who love the understated and elegant, they wear small and delicate jewellery, often keeping on the same chain or earring arrangement everyday, and most definitely wearing the same rings. All of which most likely hold sentimental value as well as feeling safe and comforting. And easy, I guess, one less thing to think about.
Category two, and the category I definitely fall into, those that change their jewellery daily, mainly loving something that is a bit bold and showy.
My love of all jewellery spans the circumference of the world, however I do feel strangely drawn to chunky, metal, chain, beaded and often quite frivolous pieces. I think this is evident in the abundance of bold statement necklaces, big chunky cuff bracelets and lets face, pretty ‘in your face’ earrings I have chosen for the Citrine website www.citrineloves.com
For me, jewellery is very much part of my identity. Each outfit I wear, and by extension the jewellery, is an expression of the mood I am in, the job I need to do, or the event I am attending.
Costume jewellery, helps me feel a sense of sophistication and polish, however low key or mundane my day ahead might be. And due to its affordability it is something you can buy lots of, giving you scope to mix and match your jewels to suit the end use.
For example, putting a resin chunky chain necklace on with a polo neck, oversized blazer and jeans helps me feel ready for my day, ‘put together’ and just a bit sassy. Often the selected necklace then influences my cosmetic choices, on goes the matching colour lipstick, and there you have it, you are ready to go.
A lunch on holiday is a chance to adorn myself with large multi-coloured beaded drop earrings, a big bangle and most definitely a resin cocktail ring that matches my swimwear, making this an event not just a necessity.
A long gold chain a long pearl necklace and a large gold cuff bracelet paired with simple, beautifully cut tailoring and a crisp white shirt makes me feel like I can take on the world.
And wearing layered crystal necklaces along with a bejewelled ring with a plain dress just brings a smile to my face when attending the most simple of evening affairs.
Yes, you could say I am a bit audacious, but I am quite shy in nature, so wearing statement jewellery allows me a way to express myself where otherwise I might just stay quiet. And it has never failed me in creating the perfect icebreaker. People ALWAYS feel comfortable to mention your jewellery.
So, ‘to change your jewellery or not to change your jewellery?’ Perhaps now is your time to give it a whirl and experience what changing your jewellery on a daily basis does for your confidence and general joyfulness. Who knows you ‘Category One’ girls, change might be just around the corner.
Go on.. Adorn Yourself!
Love Citrine x
